FIRST BLOG POST
As I send the 9th issue of Avery Ranch Living to the printer today, I also celebrate my first anniversary in this role. Looking back over the past year, I am struck by the depth of gratitude I feel to all of you for embracing this new magazine. Your feedback has touched me more deeply than you know.
When I left my job in “Corporate America” last summer to open Avery Ranch Living for our community, I really had no idea what the future would hold. I only knew that we deserved a high-quality community magazine that would tell stories about our community! Our families. Our kids. Our pets. Our businesses. Our charities. Our events.
As I set out on my own to fundraise, I was filled with fear and uncertainty. I had never been in sales before, yet that was my only role in those first few months. I knew I would never be able to publish stories about the people in our community if I could not find enough local businesses to share my vision of what Avery Ranch Living could become.
Yet here we are today at 44 pages, and we’re still growing strong. Our local business community has shown us, through their financial support of this magazine, that they care about us and want to support our community. I could not be more grateful. Without our valued sponsors, this magazine simply would not exist. I am also proud to say that this magazine is 100% sponsored by our local business community… we’ve never taken one penny from a resident or the HOA.
As we approach the end of our first year in print, many of these business sponsors will be faced with the decision about whether or not they want to renew their sponsorship of Avery Ranch Living for 2017. If they do not renew, obviously our funding base will be reduced and we’ll be forced to cut back on the number of pages we print each month.
So I ask you… if you have been touched by this magazine in any way and value its role in our community, please join me in taking a moment this month to express deep gratitude to the folks you see listed in our Sponsor Index (which is shown on pages 4, 5, and 6 of this magazine) so that they will be encouraged to renew. The owners of these businesses simply want to know that you are seeing their ads and value their support.
If you’d like to join me in this effort to show our gratitude to these sponsors, simply mention Avery Ranch Living when you call or stop in for a product or service. You can also send a personal note of thanks to any of our sponsors by emailing your comments to firstname.lastname@example.org. I will receive your message personally and make sure that it gets forwarded to the sponsor.
Thank you in advance for doing what you can to keep Avery Ranch Living a robust and content-rich magazine that comes into our homes free of charge each and every month.
